I did too. My flex pipe was bad had a lot of little holes and soot marks. Just replaced it maybe 6 months ago. I think the shop that did my motor mounts might have knocked something loose or something like that. It smells just like it did with the bad flex pipe now, when you can smell it. And it shouldn't be leaking. But still does its regen going down the road, according to the soot gauge at least. Never have to do a parked regen on it, or haven't since I've owned it at least.

You can crawl underneath and see most everything and take side panel off. Might be able to see if it came loose when they replaced the motor mounts. Also can do a smoke test as well to find any other issues.Stringb8n Thanks this.

Well from what I can tell, the pipe that's second in the line from the back of the turbo, that's where I saw what looked wet when it first happen like on the bottom side of the pipe. My exhaust bellows pipe (Flex pipe) I replaced came with pipe that looks exactly like the pipe I'm referring to being second behind the turbo. If I let it warm before driving to temp then I will smell that exhaust or burning diesel smell for a few minutes but won't get the smoke coming in the cab. If I just fire it up and drive away, I'll be looking like Cheech and Chong soon after. Windows down with smoke just bellowing out like it's on fire. Then it will just stop all of a sudden.next time I'm home ill take it back to the shop. When it first happened I thought I had a fuel line break.Siinman Thanks this.

Spray soapy water on the flex pipe before it warms up and look for bubbles. If it's at the clamps, you should probably take it off and replace the gaskets. I think I remember somebody telling me that you can rotate the flex pipe to get it to stop rubbing on the frame. If you're getting bubbles at the seam on the inner part of the flex pipe, then you can take a really big hose clamp like for a dryer vent and put some Permatex copper on the inside of it and let it cure overnight. Then put it over the seam and tighten until the gasket material compresses. Or buy a new flex pipe, but yours shouldn't leak like that if it's only 6 months old.

Yes I know. 6 months old, if its leaking they tweaked something when they replaced my rear motor mounts. I really think it's the pipe between the header or s pipe and the exhaust bellows or flex pipe. I know when the Flex pipe was replaced it wasn't sitting on the frame then. Maybe they removed all that pipe and just didn't seal it up right when they put it back on. I'd have to check to see but could be they had to remove them.

It did the trick. Leaking from around the front clamp, the one that connects exhaust to header pipe.
