Looking to pickup my first new truck at the end of the year. Really looling forward to this new engine with the common rail and the turbo compound.
Will be specing mine out as such
    780 XE
    -d13TC 455 with ecotorque
    -ishift or 13spd
    Adaptive Loading

I know they started rolling out the TC last year as an option for MY17, with many more for MY18. Want to hear from owners about how you like it. How many miles youve put on it? Any issues?

Volvo engines are not the best engines unless you really want one. They have trouble with injector cups leaking. Get the $6,000 extra warranty.

    WTF.
They certainly are the best of the two options available currently.... Cummins or Volvo.
I'd agree with warranty on either one... And the Volvo 17+ uses a new fuel system.

The average D13 goes about twice as long before needing a in frame compared to a ISX. Not to mention the Volvo has a much better emissions system reliability than the Cummins.

Anyway... OP I'd love to hear some feedback on the TC motor...

A local guy here runs one pulling a reefer and supposedly the fuel economy is awesome and the noise of the engine is very very quiet.

What does the TC stand for on this engine?

    Turbo Compounding

It's similar to how a helicopter turbine harnesses the energy to spin the propellers.

How expanding exhaust drives a turbine fan which is mechanically connected through gearing to the load.

It's essentially the exhaust side of a turbo that's connected to gears... instead of being connected to the compressor blades to make boost.

With the Volvo TC engine, it uses otherwise wasted exhaust energy to be used to drive the truck forward, thus saving on fuel consumption by higher efficiency.

Sounds like a solid upgrade with the Common rail and the TC just the icing on the cake.
