probably not bad. you can request a copy of your dac report just like a credit report. if you disagree with something n it you can submit a rebuttal

If you're established with a year under your belt with a single company... It shouldn't hurt you badly. If they're doing it to a LOT of people.. The word gets out. THAT will make it even less likely to be an issue. You'll want to get a copy of your DAC though. I've learned hard way that not all of the horror stories out there about drivers being burned by vindictive companies are "stories". :biggrin_2557: And the "this could be you" lesson to them should be heeded.

It's important though to do your research VERY THOROUGHLY. Hireright (DAC's actual company name) has a well earned reputation for being impossible to deal with. They're regulated under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. (FCLA) which has a series of regulations one should know about. Here's a couple rules and "but" details you should be aware of.

    1. Under FCLA, they're REQUIRED to conduct an investigation of any dispute to the information reported to them.
but: The law only obligates them to do a single investigation for your claim. That's it. ONE. Make sure your ducks are in a row. There are companies out there that you can pay to do the fix for you. If your dispute's a big deal. HIRE THEM. The good ones are worth it.

    2. FCLA also has a small clause in there: It specifies that the agency must conduct an ADEQUATE, and complete investigation and states that a consumer who feels their claim was investigated poorly, or incompletely has a legal right to file a complaint with the FTC, and can demand a re-investigation, or may file charges.

but: Hireright (DAC) won't be very clear about pointing that out. If other accounts are like mine, then they're almost criminal in their neglect of their legal obligations.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

-My brother (and sister) truckers. It's very important that you understand this. Hireright's "DAC" service isn't a background check. When you boil it down: They simply keep a file on you. Trucking companies pay Hireright to enter into your file WHAT THEY SAY about you. Other trucking companies then pay Hireright to give them access to that file. Trucking firms pay them money, but investigations COST them money. (ie: Truckers defending their good name costs them money.)

:biggrin_25525: I've got more to say, but I don't wanna sound like a rabid nutcase, or an undercover: "fix your DAC" pitchman. lol
