I just received my DAC report today.

In 2007 I attended a company training program. I graduated but before the testing for the CDL I left. Technically I guess they hired me. However I have NEVER obtained a CDL in any state nor have I ever hauled a load or been assigned a load. I have only attended their school.

I quit and decided not to pursue trucking back then in 2007.

Here is what is on my DAC:

ELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE: Review required before rehiring

REASON FOR LEAVING: Resigned/Quit (or Driver Terminated Lease)

    STATUS: Company Driver

    DRIVER'S EXPERIENCE: Over The Road

    EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Van

    LOADS HAULED: Gen. Commodity

    WORK RECORD: No Show

My issue is with the bolded part. How can I be no show if I've never had a CDL? Secondarily it says "LOADS HAULED: Gen. Commodity". I have never hauled any loads for them. I went to school.

I guess the full detailed description of "NO SHOW" (found on the internet, not on the DAC itself) is:

    [FONT=Arial, Verdana]

... but once again I've never hauled any loads for the company. I didn't even have a CDL and I quit as they admitted.

How damaging is this if I want to get back into trucking and should I fight this or is it actually considered accurate?

Any place that you fill out an application and attend any orientation for, go to school no matter how many days and if you decided not to pursue the job or not. Companies espcially the big ones need to show that they have a certain body count of eligible hires. The company does have the option of pllacing the info in your file. I would say to contact hireright the DAC reporting agency and contest the info. Good luck with it!

I don't have any issue with them reporting to DAC. But making it look like I hauled loads for them and did a no show seems inaccurate.

ok, i too ran into this many, many years ago with the now defunct PST flatbed out of Davenport, IA...

what YOU NEED TO DO is get back to DAC and make a rebuttle statement, clearly saying YOU DID NOT work for this company, and LEFT before you got your license, so you COULD NOT HAVE hauled any loads...

now, also, very NEATLY, professionally, type up a very short "explanation" of your circumstances, then make several copies...EVERYTIME now that you apply for a job, include this pre-written letter explaining this.....

in that letter, also state that you sent in a rebuttle to DAC as well.

now, i was "lucky" that PST went out of business, so I had DAC back then remove that company from my files.....as long as that business is still in business, this may never get removed...

you can call the HR Dept, but if i am not mistaken, the Safety dept is the one that usually handles DAC reports....

again, i had yet another problem with Central Transport (CT) and i NEVER DROVE FOR THEM EITHER..!!, i went through about 2 months of long distance calls, haunting them..finally a sweet young gal in safety wiped my record clean..!!

    flguy and Heirforce1 Thank this.

Also for "DRIVER EXPERIENCE" it states "Over the road" but researching on the internet here is the description:

I have no OTR experience. I don't even have a CDL and I never had one. The only time I have spent in a truck was at school with a CDL permit. It seems ridiculous.

Thanks I will consider doing this. Also if anyone else has any further opinions I would be grateful.

My plan for the future was to attend an 8 week course here and get my CDL the right way finally after all these years. This bothers me a lot because I know how the job market is.

Yes, that's what I'm seeing. I love to drive but one thing I don't like is that there is a tremendous amount of bureaucracy and there isn't much job security anymore. Any number of incidents or accidents (not necessarily your fault) could very easily effectively mean the end of your career.

Not to mention the DAC system which seems almost one of a kind in employment. It seems to be specifically set up to hurt drivers and give companies tools to punish drivers for quitting or doing even the slightest thing wrong. I've seen so many reports here of questionable things placed on someone's DAC that it isn't funny.

I think there needs to be a change in the law. If you put false information on someone's DAC and they successfully contest it then you owe them $5,000 for each piece inaccurate information payable within 30 days or you lose the right to make further DAC reports. I believe this might help matters some! Too bad there is no chance of it happening.
