How long do collisions remain on the DAC report?
I have 3 incidents that are preventing me from leaving my current carrier. None resulted in injury or were deemed reportable to DOT.
Incident 1: 8/15; took right hand turn too short in a parking lot and hit a directional sign.
Incident 2: 9/15; ran over debris at a customer site in low light situation causing violent blowout of a trailer tire with damage to brake chamber on that axle/side.
Incident 3: 11/15; company provided nav system put me on a road that was a dead end, leading into a public park parking lot without safe turnaround and I needed assistance. This caused minor landscaping damage.
Since then, I haven't even hit a curb that was not unavoidable due to surroundings.

It stays on dac for 7 years. P.S: Dont report incidents unless you absolutely have no choice.

Most companies usually care about accidents up to 3 yrs back, same for tickets. If it's something major that could be another story

I would avoid driving on the 15th of the month

We all make mistakes. Recognizing and learning from them is the key to ultimately being successful in my opinion. It sounds like you are doing just that. Best of luck to you in the future. -

I agree with most of the replies , however be careful of one thing. Information in DAC can aggregate on you. Because of the 10 year driving history rule DAC does keep your driving history. Every single company you have driven for is listed in DAC. While incidents and accident histories might not be there (and I'm not sure I agree they get removed) the companies themselves keep it. If you get fired for excessive accidents this is going to follow you for 10 years. If it gets repeated then these accidents will start to aggregate and when this happens it will be a snowy day in hell when you get another job. Moral of the story is stop running over things and pay attention to what you are doing.

Like I said, the incidents have been rookie mistakes and have not been repeated since. I haven't even hit a curb that was avoidable in months.
And I haven't even made a critter cake yet... seen 'em though.....Last edited: May 5, 2016

There are companies that would hire you. If you want to leave your current company then apply where you want to. Just don't leave your current company until you get hired first. Some will reject you due to your accidents. Others will accept you. Just be honest and let them know you have learned from your mistakes.
