One of the sponsors here on TTR, DacFix, says that they can clean it up for you. Some of the members have spoken highly of them.

DAC Fix will charge you for the same thing you can do for free. They are much like companies that say they can clean up your credit report. Only the reporting company can remove things from a credit (or in this case DAC) report. DAC falls under Fair Credit Reporting Act rules which means you are entitled to one free a year and one free for each turndown by a company if there decision is based on the DAC report. If there is erroneous information on there or even true information but you want your side of the story there as well, USIS has a form that you can submit as a rebuttal. YOu need to go to the USIS website and download the form for requesting a copy (save time and download a rebuttal form as well). Complete the form and mail it in. You will receive your DAC in about two to three weeks. Review it (it is a pretty simple, easy to read/understand report). If there is information there that needs to be corrected, complete the rebuttal form and submit it.

using dac-fix is recommended, they know the way thru the jungles of red tape to get to the issues and resolve them, if you have plenty of time to deal with being on the phone with all parties involved then do it yourself.
i paid the fee, did the phone interview and let them handle it, this way i don't get stressed out.....which will be easy to do dealing with the people that you will have to speak to to correct your dac.
also they were recommended on the satelite radio show, and the points they made
regarding the way they handle it made me pay the $$$ to have them fix it.
it's like the legal plan to help you out with tickets and legal matters.

Let us know if they end up doing anything more than adding your side of the story to the DAC. DAC is like a credit report and no amount of outside pressure will guarantee the reporting company will change remarks. If something was put on in error, the company will most likely remove it as long as the driver is able to provie proof that it is an erroneous entry. If it is their assessment of your situation DAC fix or any other company has just as much cance getting them to remove it as the driver does. In most cases a rebuttal statement is all that will end up there. Of course they were recommended on the satellit, they most likely sent sponsorship funds just like here. They are in business to make money and will get the business anyway they can. They are no different then all the companies that say they can fix your credit report. They make their money off people who are unwilling to take the time to do it themselves. Your results, you are out the money for the same thing you could have done yourself. I choose to hang on to my money.

from what i was told, what was on my dac needed to be removed, petty company retoric. and what cannot be removed a rebuttal will be added, but most of it was petty. i will know in dec what has come out of this, plus i have no patience to deal with people on the phone, it gets me homicidal:biggrin_25510:!

You are exactly right. There are many things that the average driver thinks can go into his/her DAC, but the real scoop is that they are bound by law what they can or cannot put in your DAC. The DAC is actually more controlled than a credit report. A lot of drivers think that "the company screwed up my DAC report", but they were just threatened with the company putting something on there, not necassarily something that the company could even put on there. A lot of drivers have never even seen their DAC and are not even aware that they have the right to a free copy of it once a year under the same act that allows you to see your credit reports once a year for free. A driver who wishes to see their DAC and has not ever ordered it should go ahead and order it, I have ordered mine every year since I started driving--so I know what is exactly on it. The DAC it self is not actually reversible. The only thing that you can do if something is wrong on it is to include your statement(which is required to travel with it to anybody pulling the report)giving your side of the story. DAC is not required to remove anything, nor are the companies who put them there not required to remove anything. DACfix can do no more or no less than you can on your own. They are kinda like Lifelock, everything lifelock can do and charge you for, you can do for free--same thing. BTW, your DAC only covers the last 7 years. Also, according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act(which DAC falls under)the following is applicable:

Consumer Reporting Agencies must correct or delete inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information. Inaccurate, incomplete or unverifiable information MUST be removed or corrected usually within 30 days. HOWEVER, a consumer reporting agencey may continue to report information it has verified as accurate.

In otherwords, unless you have unrefutable proof as to your corrections of your DAC, they will continue to be on there, although a letter of explanation will follow with your report if you submit it. But the adverse information will remain on the report without proof which is extremely hard to come by since the company that reported it is under part of this ruling about being fined and or indicted for supplying false information on a credit report(which DAC technically and legally is)

The DAC is a fairly standard format. If I knew how to do it I would post a copy of mine but I will give you the line items that the company has to fill in. The form info is in bold. They are:

    Driver: driver's name
    SSN: driver's ssn
    DOB: driver's dob
Contributed by: name of the company or companies if more than one under the DOT number
    Phone: company's phone number
Original data received by DAC on: The date the information was submitted to DAC
Period of service: Start to finish
Eligibe for rehire: company will list if they will rehire or not (mine says, "Review required before rehire")
Reason for leaving: here the compan would list if you were terminated or in my case it states I resigned
Status: tells whether the driver was a company driver, lease operator, or owner operator
Driver's Experience: list what all you did while there. Mine states I had mountain driving, OTR, Single driver, and freight handling
    Equipment Operated: Dry Van/Reefer/Flat/Step etc.
Loads Hauled: tells what you hauled. mine says general commodities
Work Record: here is where the company can tell what you work ethic/record was like. Mine states satisfactory
    Accident/Incident record

Equipment was involved in an occurrence or act that produced unintended injury, death, property damage of any type, or reulted in the equipment requiring a tow (other than mechanical breakdown) while assigned to the driver regardless of fault. Adverse information is reported for 7 years.

Number of DOT recordable accidents less than 7 years old: Here a running total is kept on the driver based on input from the company
Number of non-DOT recordable Accidents/Incidents less than 7 years old: Here a running total is kept on the driver based on input from the company
In my case both showed 0.

No Additional accident/incident information available. (if there was other reportable incidents they would be listed here.

Again, it is a fill in the blank format with limited room for data to be submitted. So it makes one wonder what all the fuss is about. Certainly under "Reason for leaving" if the company lists you were terminated or that you abandoned equipment that would weigh negatively when viewed by a prospective employer. There just doesn't seem to be alot ofroom in this format to put a bunch of false info.
