I had a 71 convertible VW When I was in highschool, the year I graduated. What a total gas that car was!! That was the first car I hit the road and didn't come back for some time:) Followed the love of my life up to Yakima. Another story, denise
PS I think I floated the gears once in awhile in that also??

Why in the world did you get rid of a perfectly good car like that? My summer car is a yellow 71 VW convertible. I roll it out in the spring, put the top down, and drive it until it starts snowing, put the top up, and park it until the next spring. I was starting to have some hope for you but anybody that would abandon a wonderful automobile like that lacks walking around sence.:biggrin_25520::biggrin_25520:

I was over town last week and parked beside a yellow Mercedes convertible. As I was walking away the owner came up to his car. I walked up to him trying to be friendly. I told him I also had a yellow German convertible and he asked me where it was. I pointed to my buggy and he snorted as he got in his car, giving me a hateful look as he slammed his door.

Last month I stopped in a rest area. A little 4 year old girl walked by with her mother. She looked at my buggy and said "Mommy, look at the funny man in the cute little car. I want one of them". I assume she meant the buggy.

Always excitement in my little buggy. It always attract attention.

I lost that vehicle after I was fired from a job as a bartender. I didn't want to play touchy, feely with the Manager. I ran out of time to make the payments after that so I sold it.

If you have always been able to hang onto every nice thing you've ever bought I am happy for you.

I used to float the gears in my 01 Toyota pickup too. Toyota transmission are really smooth and easy to float the gears in.

My beetle had an unsynchronised 1st gear. Easier to get it in 1st without grinding, no clutch when down shifting.

Glad to hear you came through OK. What year did it happen? Ovals are getting rare. I've got 61, 63, 67, sedans and the convertible and a 79 bus camper.
