Dispatch called me yesterday and asked if I would swap loads with a driver needing to get home.
No big deal.
Got to st louis on my way to Dallas.
Swapped.
Went back to columbus.
Grabbed another load back to Denton.
Nicest folks on the planet at Danny Herman.
Cannot say enough good things about the way we are treated.

 

Good news on the raise. I'll probably be starting in a couple weeks.

 

Careful getting out of mountain city..24 miles of switchbacks..seek alternate route..I accomplished it..but it was scary!

 

Sounds like you took the route I started on once. I got a call from Nestor he said noooooo don't go that way. I think they call it the snake, 421 North out of town. You can take 421 south towards Boone, or 67 west I think that's main St. or 91 I believe it is takes you towards Virginia. Those three routes are approved. The snake ain't. All the routes are mountainous the snake has the worst switchbacks. I learned to drive a big truck in the TN and NC mountains so I'm kinda used to mountain city.

Thinking back it was comical. I wasn't on that road 2 minutes and my phone rings. I see it's DHT I'm thinking what the heck they want they just sent me a load to run and get. It's Nestor, he's like noooooo don't go that way. I said Nestor I'm only bobtail I got this, the route looks a lot shorter this way. He said no you don't understand, we've had trucks stuck up there unable to move forward and no way to turn around. I said, oh. He said there's signs saying not recommended truck route didn't you see the signs? I said of course I did, I ignored them, but I sure did see em. So, I turned around at the next available opportunity, which wasn't much I'll admit. All the time he's on the phone making sure I get turned around. He said Ya, one of the guys saw you on their computer moving toward the snake, they were saying naw he ain't gonna go that way. Then they said, hey Nestor, he went that way. That's when I got the call. Nestor has gotten me out of a couple jams like that. He'd have me pulled up on screen, turn left turn right turn left, hey what do ya know there's the interstate again....

 

They never called me!
I completed all 24 miles!
