Well Mr. @BM 58, my over 11 yrs of experience means almost nothing after 2 recent years out of the road... For some reputable companies, mega or small, I am almost a rookie and don't qualify, otherwise will have to team with a trainer for weeks... I could use one week with a trainer but more than that....
There are issues for sure... and inside of the truck can be one of them since I will be living in one... that's why I need to see inside of the trucks before I pick the company, if I am not familiar with them.
LOL... My demands??I am not looking for the perfect solution cause there's none. Every company, big or small will have a certain level of BS and crap that a new hire will have to go thru. I am trying to know everything before hand so that I can decide what level of BS and crap I can put up with... or not.
Buying a truck at this point might be a disaster for me and I am too old for that...
What I am doing by checking everything I possibly can about my potential employers is not overthinking. It is the smartest thing to do... something that most people don't do and then end up leaving the company after a while, or feeling miserable in their job...
I would be very screwed if I went to orientation based solely on what recruiter told me... and all this research is saving me a lot of headache and expense in the future, for me and for the company.
BTW, I like your new company... wish there were something similar around here...
All the best in your new job...![]()

So.......... I visited Lebanon location today and had nice conversation with terminal manager who told me he was going to be "brutally" honest with me and don't give me the recruiter BS....
Ok... I told him, that's what I want, the truth, nothing but the truth...
Terminal manager said that I would need a mandatory 150 hrs team driving with trainer... which might take 3 or 4 weeks depending on how that went with trainer...
Recruiter had told me I might need 15 or 10 days team driving with trainer...
Terminal manager said that after my training, I would take a second road test wherever we ended up to be and then, the trainer might either drop me off where my assigned truck might be or company might send me somehow to that location.
And after getting to the truck, it might take a few days, who knows how many, for company to route me thru Lebanon in order for me to get in my vehicle and go get my things in Chatt...
He said that company wouldn't give me more than a day to have the rest of my things in the truck.. But I think he is missing some info because company gives one day and a half for each week spent on the road. So, if I stayed on the road with trainer for 3 or 4 weeks, I would have 4 to 6 days off to bring my things to the truck, clean everything my way and have all organized...
So..... for a driver with recent experience like Mr. @Dockbumper ... the hiring process is much easier and faster...
I am glad I visited their location in Lebanon and had that conversation with the terminal manager... not sure I want to go thru all that with a company...
Still searching and researching...BeHereNow97, jethro712 and Speed_Drums Thank this. -
