Yes, it's true. The smith of wind is coming aboard at Danny Knapp Trucking this week. I'm excited to have someone to continue with the "agent in the truck" philosophy at Danny Knapp Trucking. "One call, one guy, from booking to billing" is the mantra and we are starting to find brokers and customers who appreciate this personalized service and accountability.

We're doing some innovative things including a true "cloud" office accessible anywhere we have an internet connection. While the industry and mega's in particular are feverishly attempting to take the thinking out of driving a truck, I am attempting to put it back in and then some. By empowering capable drivers such as windsmith to book loads, bill loads, and record trip data it reduces need for support staff and creates an opportunity for me to offer an aggressive pay plan. Will it work ? ask me in a couple years but I can't think of anyone I'd rather have try it than windsmith.

Actually that's not what I'm hoping for. I'm just curious to see it to work as most of our drivers have a hard enough time just holding the wheel let alone dealing with a broker.

Windsmith and I have been friends for over 20 years. He's a good guy and a hard worker. Wishing both of you great success!

This sounds great. And from experience, what you are talking about is recognized by some of the better brokerages and agents. When people complain about rates I do not think they completely understand how dismal the service is by a vast majority of the carriers that are working the spot market. When you set yourself apart you will find you can command a better rate.

Keep this up and you will have to become a conservative. ;)
