Freightliner Coronado glider w/ Cummins N14 525hp / 1850 ft lbs. 13 sp and 3.42 rears from Harrison Truck Centers. 70" midroof.
To make a long story short, decided to sell my 05 Intl because I suspected big repairs coming. CluckCluck ordered a glider from Fitz kind of got me thinking about gliders. They've been going up in price every year and are still selling them as fast as they can build them, used ones are holding value well.
I looked at Fitz and they do good work there, I wouldn't be scared to buy one. But they are so busy, it would have been quite a wait. And honestly the salesman didn't seem to care much if I bought one or not. I may have caught him on a bad day.
Because of the situation with my truck needing to go to auction, and the fact this was the only glider available with an N14 that I know of I made a pretty quick decision to buy. I wanted it, didn't want someone else to get it while I hem-hawed.
I don't recommend buying a glider like this, it would be nice to custom spec one like cowpie did, but this one was spec'd about how I would have anyways, and I definitely was not looking to spend more money on extras. so it was a ba-da-bing deal.
So far so good, only issue was oil filter was a little loose and leaking, found the leak and stopped by one of Harrison's other shops on the way home and they checked it out tightened it up and talked over the breaking in process of the engine a bit with me. They're good folks, while I can take this truck to any Freightliner or Cummins shop for warranty work, I am going to try to take it to Harrison shops when possible. One other concern is oil temp is reading 220, seems high to me, especially for bobtailing 64 mph... Some guys are saying that some N14's run high. I suspect could be to do with the assembly lube and jive in the oil. The shop guy said he recommends let it break in before changing, like 10,000. I don't know if I will wait, I may change soon. Other idea I can check the temp with Insite to make sure gauge is accurate. And if Insite agrees with gauge I can try changing the sensor to make sure it is not reading high. Or verify with a mechanical gauge.
for the mpg-heads. All I got is ECM numbers, bobtail, engine not broke in, fresh tires. but was showing 11 mpg until the wind picked up, wound up at 10.41 avg. 1350rpms 64mph. I did not buy this truck with intention of setting mileage records, I'll be tickled if I can average 7 or better doing regular stepdeck stuff. I do hope to do very well on reliability. I'm hoping for few breakdowns and lots of miles of trouble free service.
get plates transferred Monday, got a few things to take care of, hope to get running with it end of next week or Monday 13th.... stay tuned. lol. this isn't gonna be a track that truck. But I am willing to answer questions if anybody is interested or considering a Harrison glider.Last edited: Apr 4, 2015

The pictures answered the old versus new style question that was asked in anther thread
There's a builder west of here(I'm about 75 miles away from Elk Run Heights), that is assembling gliders for other companies.
Grand Island Express is one that comes to mind. They and some others are buying aero trucks, and are now also getting Cascadias.dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
N14. Nice. The one we had was a red top. I thought they all were?
