Yeah. I too need info. Am purchasing a truck soon and am interested in the Texas regional. Specifically, leasing in to them.

NO NO I fell for that. Do not lease a truck from Dart or Highway Sales or any company. How would you like to be Questioned about your low fuel mileage by the company and your paying for it? Or set in a truckstop every other weekend? Been there done that. BIG MISTAKE.Retired now rocking chair has one gear low speed now what did I do with that beer?

They are short of contractors and drivers right now. Every 3rd trailer I pull I don't have to get fixed. either tires or lights or abs system. Dart has 32 different pay rates for contractors. I started on the northern region, but switched to mpls local after I got tired of not getting paid miles through my house. If you unload south of your home city 50 miles and reload 75 miles north of your home after going home for the weekend, they will not pay the deadhead miles because you went home. Lately it is difficult to find an empty trailer. Their money is there, you can get paid after everyload on the over the road divisions, but if you fill the tanks for fuel, the revenue will go to pay the fuel bill first. The one thing I will tell you is that I have NEVER heard a dispatcher or support staff ever say an unkind 4 letter word in dealing with drivers and contractors. The system is set up for a driver to have one truck, not enough revenue to buy a truck and pay a driver. It is a living, nothing more unless you are like Jimmy the Junkman and get 9.5 mpg.
Jet Lag Thanks this. -
old retired lugnut Thanks this.

Not trying to harp, but keep things in perspective! -
You have to pay the bill . you made it. It's called cash flow and apparently you do not have enough of it.That is one reason out of many that a fleece purchase is a bad Idea!!!!!!!
-
Never said the money for fuel shouldn't come out first. But I hear people in Dart's office fielding calls that drivers didn't get much money as they bought 250 gal of fuel and run 500 miles, not even enough revenue to get a positive cash flow. I will be parking my tractor after Christmas. Have not had a good year, so it's time to do something else.

I've been a contractor here since 1994- I'll tell it like it is and it's not sugar coated.
Ask me about Dart- what's really going on and if you might make money here. I know how much money our contractors are grossing and why some are doing well while others are going broke.
Oh- and I just met Jimmy the Junkman again in the Lancaster terminal- cool guy. One smart contractor. I guarantee he's among the most profitable leased O/O's they've got.RubyEagle and chevyman85 Thank this. -
I worked for Dart as a Dedicated Services driver up in MN. Loved the idea of owning my own truck. Did lots of research, but could never get the numbers to work out right, so I stayed company. I did notice that the favorite game was played with several contractors and thought it was unfair. Didn't really care for the ownership so I parted ways. They gave me a job when I needed one, I gave them a fair days work for not that great of wage. Now I haul tanker and am very happy where I am.
