Outward facing are here to stay for sure. Not so sure about the inward facing though. Seems lately, thankfully, some companies are finally slowly moving away from required inward cameras in OTR trucks due to recruiting problems.

x1Heavy and Bean Jr. Thank this.

it's the insurance companies pushing the cameras.
just like the push from them for governed speed.

oh, and to the poster that said ,most of their time is spent distracted.
you need to get another job if your attention span is that short.

Insurance can push all they want, it's still the companies decision. It's certainly not a law to have an inward facing privacy invading camera.

I think this is not the case at all. The companies with driver facing cams are more likely to be self-insured. So what insurance company is pushing them for these cameras?

When they do roll out with driverless trucks they better have a security escort cause thouse trucks will be hit hard with bandits.

Our insurance company doesn't require them but they offered us a pretty good rate reduction to install them.

We didn't do it. If we can't trust our drivers to do the right thing we shouldn't have them in the first place. I do n't see how having a camera trained on them constantly would make them better drivers or safer drivers.

I won't do driver facing cameras. The second I find out my current job is installing them, I will be moving on. I have a clean CDL and the experience to do anything I'm interested in trucking-wise. I'll have another job inside 24 hours.

I've quit jobs for lowering speed limiters (63->59 mph, Ryder Integrated Logistics), removing EZ-Pass from trucks running Northeast metro (TMC), and for switching from paper to E-Logs well ahead of any requirement to do so (FFE). Stick a camera in my face and I'll add another notch to the belt. I work somewhere on my terms, and when the company changes the work environment in a manner I don't like, I move on. Maybe I'll run out of places to go, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

When you have a picture taken it steels a bit of your spirit, if you are wondering about the brain dead folks out there moving on auto pilot you have found one.

What happens EVERY TIME you ask a barber if you need a haircut?
"These people who sell this thing say if I buy their thing it's good for me."
