You mean like Officer Jacob Ungerer of the Middleton, WI police department? A man who has been arrested multiple times for drunken disorderly and assault? A man who was fired from the New Berlin PD for misconduct?

Or maybe you mean Timothy Leohmann who was fired from the Independence, Ohio PD during training for a "dangerous lack of composure" during firearms training and was subsequently hired by Cleveland PD?

We regularly rail against companies like CR England and the "Volvo Mafia" that put unqualified people into CMVs. We want whomever hired the Colorado driver to be held accountable. Why shouldn't we ask for the same level of accountability from our police officers?

Where did i say police officers don’t need accountability? You took my statement trying to twist it it’s something that you want it to be. I really cannot stand people who try to twist statements to fit their narrative… I am all for accountability matter what the profession is

What happens when police officer get caught lying? What happens when we cut social services and expect police officers to pick up the slack? What happens when police seize property with no justification? What happens when a civilian review board recommends an officer's termination and the police department instead promotes the officer and puts up billboards all over town announcing the promotion? Most importantly - what happens when a Police Force stops protecting it's citizen and instead begins preying upon them?

Testilying is a term that was coined by the NYPD. It is endemic in police culture according to Alan Dershowitz's book "The Best Defense". Time and again we see police statements not being close to what was caught on camera. If the footage exhortations the officer's actions, it is quickly released. If it is problematic the footage is withheld citing "on going investigations". Worse is when officers like Lt John Clary of Louisiana State Police lie about the existence of video evidence and face nor repercussion. It is also interesting that when body cameras are worn, use of force diminishes by 10%

It shouldn't have taken more than a decade to bring Ronald Watts to justice. A decade where more than 100 people were sent to prison unjustly. A city attorney shouldn't feel obligated to quickly settle misconduct allegations because she is afraid of the discovery process. Zachery Weaver shouldn't have been able to plant evidence during routing traffic stops - it was an open secret that would have continued if someone hadn't violated the chain of command. Officers who are Giglio/Brady impaired should not be employed as police officers. A department should not be able to drag out an internal investigation until criminal charges are no longer possible.

If I get caught violating company policy, I will get reprimanded. If I continue to violated company policy, I will get fired.

All I want is police to be held to the same standard I am.

If I misunderstood you, I apologize. I read your statement as "there's already a process to deal with this problem and it's working just fine and people should just shut up about police misconduct".

You are acting as if all officers are corrupt. Yes bad apples should be held accountable as in any profession. Your rants lead me to believe you have a history of law enforcement encounters? Give the profession a consideration..show them how it's done.

Sounds like you have maybe been cited several times in your town for traffic violations. And save your breath, I started policing back in 89 and did it 26 plus years. And no I never wrote anyone for not using a blinker. No you don't have to be convicted of a crime to expect accountability. I was a supervisor for quite a long time and always believed in quality over quantity. Had a few officers I had to tell to stop writing chicken #### tickets. It's one thing to stop someone for a minor traffic offense as probable cause and another to spend all day writing worthless minor traffic violations...but
traffic enforcement..that's part of the job. Yes there is a small town near me where a.guy I know got a ticket for one mph over the speed limit.. rediculous! It's pretty ignorant though to say all police are dirty and corrupt. From my own experience it's less than one percent. And as always people like you focus on traffic tickets yadda yadda..having no idea what our officers are dealing with because you have never done it. ( Going to numerous shots fired calls, domestic calls, robberies in progress, etc the list goes on and on. There is a lot more to policing than writing tickets.

So why aren't bad police officers held accountable?

Why is a man who has a history of drunken assaults, attempted to use his police credentials to get 'consideration' during a dui stop, and was fired from his first police job a current police officer?

Why do officers who lie in court face no repercussions?

And then of course there’s Derek Chauvin. He was written up numerous times for his misconduct, for which he should’ve been terminated. And that was before his fateful run-in with George Floyd.
