Well I certainly would if either of you could produce any fact instead of just what you believe.

After recording thousands of hours of videos with go pros on my motorcycle showed me that the speed of which you can write limits the amount of frames per second that can be written. If the card records shower than the camera records the video quality suffers.

Just my two cents. I'm done here

You claimed HD cannot be recorded on a class 4 card. HD vs. SD is determined by the information density in each frame, not by the number of frames per second.

I cannot begin to describe how glad I am I don't do IT anymore. This was every day.

I never once claimed that. I said the video quality would be slightly lower. Meaning gaining video, slow frames and such

OK. Let me take a pause and apologize if I snapped at you guys over this trivial issue. You are truckers, not junior programmers. Old habits die hard.

Now let me ask you both to take a breath and consider this logically. Suppose you take your dash camera, or your GoPro, or whatever camera you like, and make your very best video. Choose the highest frame rate and the highest resolution your camera will allow. And of course record it on a class 10 card.

Now take the card out of your camera and plug it into your laptop. Find the video file and copy it onto your laptop hard drive. Now remove the card and plug a class 4 card into your laptop. Copy the file from your laptop hard drive onto the class 4 card.

Do you think the act of copying that file onto the class 4 card somehow changed the contents of the file? Because that is what you've both been arguing all night.

If your camera doesn't accept a slower card then you can't use one. If your camera allows a slower card but doesn't allow certain features, like faster frame rates, then you are stuck with that constraint. However, if you camera accepts a slower card, allows the settings you want, and produces a video, then you can not improve the quality of that video simply by switching cards.

Weather its a Class 1 or 15 SD Card, just stick with an extra cell phone. Dash cams are cheap junk.

When I buy a new phone. I keep my old phone. They work every bit as good as a dash cam and can do a whole lot more.

Sprint note2. Gps. Dashcam. Mp3 player. UNactivated. Still functioning.

Verizon s6. Same thing. Until it dies like my Verizon note2 and moto droid did.

Will a smart phone overwrite when the memory capacity is exceeded, so that it records continuously?

Depends on the app. Has nothing to do with the phone. Daily roads voyager was the recommended. Don't know what's popular these days.
