I read a post that he was found on or near his boat so maybe a heart attack??? But nothing has been confirmed.

Sounds plausible, thanks for the information. The wife said they were shocked by his passing so it wasn't some illness or cancer

When I had a family member die one thing I did afterwards was put a trusted relative on my bank account signature card. This allows that 1 relative to access my bank account immediately to pay expenses for my estate without having to wait for the legal issues or pay out of their funds & hope once the estate is settled there will be funds to pay them back.

Also, it's important to have at least one person you trust wholeheartedly be have a medical power of attorney document so that they can not only make medical decision if you are in a coma, but so the hospital/doctors can inform that person of all the medical info. Just because your friend or relative has the patient's permission to know your condition the hospital may not disclose info if your person doesn't have something in writing showing you have authorized that trusted person to know about your condition. A daughter of a mother could not be told about the mother's condition unless the daughter could produce not just proof she was the daughter of the patient (hospital didn't care if she was her daughter or Queen of England) but proof daughter had written or electronic authorization from patient to know the patient's medical info. If the patient is on Medicare/Medicaid, whichever applies to older people, you can electronically designate one or more people to know the patient's info. Hospital can access that electronic designation. That was how it was explained to me.
