If being a company driver makes you feel comfortable and having someone dispatch you makes you feel good, rock on, brother.....different strokes, I always say. But I can tell you this much, that .41 / mile you brag about (being at "top pay" and all)......wouldn't make me get out of bed. -
It was interesting, but honestly not too bad. Not much space and lots of 4 wheeler traffic on the street so I just did everything slowly and made eye contact with them all and took my sweet time lol. There really isn't any room so I just kinda rolled up (they are enclosed and there is no where to park), double parked and threw on the four ways and went in to let them know I was here while waiting for a truck that was in the docks to get out so I could go in.
Luckily the roll up doors are 2 docks wide. Getting in was a little tricky because of the 4 wheelers parked on both sides of the street, and the impatient ones trying to get by you. And the pedestrians on the sidewalk don't even acknowledge your trailer moving towards the dock don't really help either LOL. So I snaked across to the front of the docks, then swung out in the middle of both lanes. Then started backing in and this guy in his civic starts following abut a foot off my bumper as I'm reversing in, I swear he was setting off my OnGuard in reverse. At this point I just hit the brakes and stopped right there and stared at him and shook my head. He got the point that I was about to step out of my truck and club him with my 4D Maglight, and he backed off. After waiting for more pedestrians to blindly walk by it was pretty easy to get it in there.
Getting out of course I'm crawling out into the street in low gear and some girl comes flying up the street with her rav 4 and cell phone and runs right up to my trailer as I'm swinging out. Of course I can't make the turn without driving over her with the trailer so again... I just stop, stare, and wait. I'm not moving. She finally got the hint and decided it would end much better if she took it upon herself to make the necessary room so that we could both get on with our days.
All this for 5 pallets LOL.
2 stops down, one to go in Louisville tomorrow, then off to Decatur.Kutina Thanks this. -
Sounds a lot like B----Foods.......the homeless dudes helped me out though.......cost me 4 packs of smokes though.
The other pick up is probably at some purfume warehouse in a residential area where you have to make a real tight turn off a 2 way street down a one way alley with traffic coming the other way at you.
Had the same run about 6 months ago.......going to a Dollar outfit out in the middle of the country. If you go to the same place, it will be interesting as well. Not really awful, but real interesting. -
Keep dreaming is all I got to say. Oh and enjoy Obamacare

Had one of your days today. Delivered in New York this morning, was available at 6:30. Sat until 9am before I got an assignment. Drive 80 miles to pick up a load in New Jersey, drop it as a relay 35 miles away in Kearney, the sit an hour plus waiting for my next assignment, bobtail to fairless hills to pick up a relay, trailer not there, wait 45 minutes then call in. Load was never even picked up by the other driver. Load pulled from me, now I sit waiting for another assignment. 179 mile day, 5 hrs on my 14 with no assignment, yet another wasted day. I'm close to being done with this companies nonsense
BossOutlaw88 Thanks this. -
Is the miles better for teams at Schneider ? Maybe try team if things don't improve. -
Funny though, as a part of my scorecard that raises are based on I'm required to get 425 paid miles per day to get 100% score. However, they're only giving me on average 390 or less miles per day. Them not giving me enough miles gets held against my performance score. It's things like that which piss me offKutina Thanks this. -

I WAS over the 425 for a while. Now I'm lucky if I can break 380 a day since I switched boards
