59-60 with cruise on flat ground, 63-64 foot on the floor. At least that's what mine runs. I'd kill to have one that would actually run 65.

It's so stupid, especially in a situation where you are trying to get around someone but can only do 63 wide open. It's dangerous.

So, here is my "newbies take" on Schneider so far:

Its a lot of ups and downs with Schneider. They don't push you to run illegal, or run when you don't feel safe. If you're going to be late for a load, as long as you called them ahead of time and provided them with a good reason why, that's that, no getting chewed out by someone, they handle it from there. Some of the DBLs are real nice to deal with (Larry at Charlotte OC I always seem to end up talking to on the weekends if I call in, he's honestly _the_ nicest and most helpful person I've dealt with at Schneider so far... just gotta give credit where credit is due), and even the grumpy ones are just... grumpy, but not rude.

The equipment for new drivers is a coin toss... some get nice stuff, others don't. Mine looks like a piece of crap and has its issues but its been reliable. Calling it "comfortable" is a stretch, but it hasn't left me sitting on the side of the road anywhere. I really wish I could have a microwave, and an APU so I could enjoy creature comforts without having to worry about batteries running low.

The 60MPH limit on cruise I don't have a problem with. Not being able to run 65 if needed I do not like at all. You haul a lot of heavy loads... I can count on one had the number of loads I've had below 35k. The engines are governed at 1600RPM, and are probably pretty heavily derated, so that combined with tall rear gears and a 10spd leaves a lot to be desired when pulling a hill with a heavy load. I can also count on one hand the number of trucks I have passed pulling uphill while loaded.

Driving for Schneider based out of an OC in the Southeast basically means you will do a ton of running around the Northeast. Lots of 300-400 mile runs. Miles so far have left a lot to be desired. Its like I'll have a real good 2-3 days where I get great miles, then a couple days of absolute crap miles that cancel all of those good days out.

Well schneider called me today and was interested in my application and said I had a good clean record and I could be a valuable driver to the company. I put on my application that I had one rear-end collision in my personal car back in 2011 so I wasn't trying to hide anything. He asked me what happened and I told him the truth "Dark, raining, and summer tires and the lady in front of me had no tail lights working" he said "okay well how fast you were going"....I was honest and told him 35mph(Posted speed limit on that road is 45) he said well that disqualified you for the job because anything over 29mph in a rear end collision is automatic disqualification. I told him that was a messed up policy and they lost a good driver.

Ketchikan baby and hal380 Thank this.

I'll be honest I would like to know if that is a real policy or not. Another thing i noticed is on the schneider website on the job i applied for it said that all you needed was Hazmat endorsement and a valid cdl but apparently you need to have 6 months at least. I have more than 6 months but when I told him he said oh that's wrong you got to have at least 6 months so I told him he needed to change it. He even said you needed 6 months for OTR but i see them hiring kids out of school all the time.

If you're willing to go through training they'll hire you straight out of school with tuition reimbursement.

Sometimes it depends on the region of the country you're applying in. If the demand for drivers isn't as great as in other areas, they're going to be less likely to take on students.
