Sorry for the newbie question, but thats what I am.
So is it safe to say your away from home for a couple of days, or is it a couple of weeks?
I'm trying to understand how the schedules work.
So if I'm in Florida, and then have me run to say Texas.
Then they would have me run somewhere after that? And then after that? and on and on??
Thanks ladies and gentleman.
Days or weeks away...?

While I voted 10+ days out, we stay out that long by choice.
Children are grown, family spread from coast-to-coast, so we can pick and choose where/when we want to take time off.
Next month, we go "home" for a few days, spend some time with my in-laws, do a little yard work, BBQ, etc.
"Home", for us, is pretty much this truck.

This job is home every other weekend, the one before that was out for 7 months, and the one before that was 5-6 weeks with one day off earned per week.
-
I was just out 5 weeks, then home for 5 days and now out again for 2 days so far.
-
I have to stay out at least 2 weeks.....I would love to just stay out 11 days, home for 3....

We haven't been "home" since March..
But, that's okay...we have visited my daughter in Ohio twice, went to my step-son's military graduation in Ft. Leonard Wood,MO in May for a week and from there went to Branson for 2 days, visited my step-daughter in Arizona once, visited BIL and his family in Oklahoma twice...
All this, just since March....so, we do get our time off...just not always at "home"!!

Hey 'Learning', Allow me to answer your question. There is no "schedule" in this biz. Your home time/time away from home depends on the company you drive for and their freight lanes etc. Some companies do a so called regional area, some do just E. coast, some 48 states. It benefits you to live close to the main terminal or a drop lot. Don't live in Mn. if your company runs mostly the southern states. Ask what their get home policy is before you hire on, but, don't expect them to always get you there on time.
simplyred1962 Thanks this.
