Toll booths are a thing of the past on the NY Thruway. Toll gantries now for cashless tolling. Thruway always was free from I88 to the Northway. Still doesn't stop some doofus drivers from trying to avoid the non existent toll by rooting around on roads they don't belong on.
What a surprise. Truck hits low bridge in upstate NY

Unfortunately I had to depart after reading only the first response. Update...from Richmond to Albany on 95 and 87 cost me $120 un tolls, saved anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, and probably about $40 to $50 in fuel

Also, if I had NY prepass the $49 on I87 from NYC to Albany would have been about $23 instead. So, actually depending on the priorities of the day it could be worth it.

toll at 90/87 in colonie, and Berkshire spur 90/90 schodack, but 90 “freebie” through Albany there’s no toll

not sure about 88 to the freebie, I don’t get out that way much
