How did you come up with $800 for gas? He said he had a mid size SUV, not a 12 mpg Suburban. If it gets 20 mpg hwy @$3.30/gal fuel will cost $462

I guess I was thinking of this all wrong. I imagined the car would be loaded on a carrier with multiple others. Not single ship.

Most likely it will loaded on a 7-9 car trailer.

Whether it is a single ship or on with other vehicles, it does not matter except to the truck owner. Once picked up he still has to deliver it if he loads the rest of his trailer or not. It may take a while though. Every time you have to stop that truck you loose time and we all know time is money. There is no guarantee that they will be able to fill the trailer so it is a gamble for the trucking company.

No, quite the opposite. It's a 14 yo car in perfect running condition because I have taken good care of it. I can't replace it with any confidence for $2k. But I also don't trust it to go 3,000 miles on the open road, without any problems. Probably bite the bullet and pay the man.....

Then there's no point in fighting what destiny has come upon. Sell it, add that compensation to money to be used for shipping and upgrade to at least 8 yrs newer.

My partner bought a car in Boston and had to move it to West Michigan which is around 950 miles. He was getting quotes on Uship starting $900. Some were 1200 and 1400. Then he set his own offer of $660 and somebody accepted it. Got the car in one piece. If you can wait a few weeks and set flexible pick up/drop off dates, then somebody might take it. The longer the distance the lower price per mile. Good luck.

This thread is hilarious. Elsewhere, and all over the forum are complaints of low rates, low pay, and general dickery. Then come on the carhaul section and want it for nothing or thru USHIP, same thing.

I think you should move it on USHIP. Have at it.
