I've been local for almost ten years so I am out of the loop on all that has been going on in the OTR world. I'm getting ready to go back out there. I need to know if I'm better off with a DC TV or an adapter so I can run a AC TV ect... I have a DC Sony with a seven inch screen, in the box hardly ever used that is 11 years old, but I need a spare to keep at home just in case. My big screen (RCA twelve inch) is old and broke. Am I better off getting a new one or fixing the old one that is over twelve 12 years old. Plus any other stuff I need to know as far as antenna's, satellite's, ect..ect... Thanks for any replies

For one thing the old one is analog and will need a converter soon to pick up digital signals . You can get an inverter that plugs into a cigarette light that will provide power for an A/C tv . Many networks broadcast tv shows on the web now so if you plan on having a laptop you can watch tv online .

It's between Harvest transport out of Vancouver, Wa and Central Oregon Trucking out of Prineville? (Bend) Oregon. They are the only ones that will accept my local experience and put me on a truck without putting me with a trainer. (That stuff of a company not accepting my experience because I've been home and with the same company for ten years just chaps my hide). I noticed you are from the area that these company's are from. Have you ever heard anything about them? Thanks.

I always got AC TVs and just used a 100 Watt inverter with it. I had DC TVs and the darn things break all the time. I still have my AC TV I used in my truck for about 10 years or so. All the DC TVs I ever bought are deep in garbage dumps somewhere now and this sucker I use ALL night long in my bedroom.

Be careful though...some companies allow NO inverters no matter if they are even only 100 Watt due to the electronic engines, etc. I used to work for Heartland Express and they would not allow ANY size inverters, so I hid it well, LOL. But, IF they caught you, they would fire you on the spot...

I've chatted with a few Harvest O/Os but nothing serious. It seems to me their people came from another outfit with a not very good reputation. I'll see what more I can find out and get back to you. It's a pain they won't take your local experience. Hopefully where you land you can hack it out for a year and then look for somewhere else if you're not happy.

The owner of Harvest, Rodney Connor has had several companies. The one before this was Northwest Transport which folded after a year or so. Talked to an ex-driver of theirs today. He said you had to watch your settlements and sometimes the pay cheques wouldn't be good for a week or so till there was money in the bank.

I think you would be better at Central Oregon but the decision is yours. Keep us posted. Best of luck.

You may be right, if the money is funny you can forget it! Harvest does a lot of oversize stuff and I used to like that plus their truck are turned up. That is both good and bad. I got a gut feeling I'd be better off at Central Oregon. Thanks for checking into it for me. I appreciate it greatly

I forgot why I used to run DC TVs (I'm brain dead) it was probably for that of getting fired. Thanks.
