Is it a real brain strain to r&r a cooler on a DD12.7. I have one thats leaking oil down the side of the block. I'm not afraid to do simple things to my truck. BUT if its a big deal because of special tools needed i will take it to a dealer.

No need , no special tools needed - you can either take the cooler and housing off complete and just replace the two squared o-rings against the block or remove cooler off housing first and replace the two squared o-rings that seal cooler core to housing , if it,s leaking from the block then I,d replace all four as they,ll all be rockhard

Have a look at the oil supply line from the cooler to the turbo. If it is completely rusted plan on changing it too. Same goes for the coolant flex hoses between the water pump and cooler. If they have any age to them they will never seal again and should be replaced too.
