    Did a Cylinder cutout test and cylinder 5 is bad. I'm going to finish driving for the week, parked the truck for a while and talk to a diesel mechanic about a overhaul .

    A cutout didn't tell you cylinder 5 is bad, just that your issue is with cylinder 5.

    Exactly what happened when you cut out cylinder 5? Lose the noise or smoke?

    Use the Relative Compression Test. The Mechanical Compression Test is way more involved.
