If I had a propensity for using a 40w in the newer engines, I would prefer a 5w40, mostly because I live and primarily operate in the northern tier of the country. 15w40 in the winter here can be like molasses at start up. Of course, at operating temperature, they are the same viscosity. A 5w40 would cover the bases a little better than a 15w40.
While I did use 10w30 in my S60 for a while, it was out of the prodding of my oil supplier to try it. Oil samples were fine, but I now use a 5w40 in the winter months and 15w40 in the summer months.
DD15 engine eating one gallon of oil for every 5000-6000 mile, Please advise.. :(

I think all components of newer engines are made in oriental countries without quality control. few days a go I saw a camshaft from ghg14 with lose cams on it..
