Looking at buying a new Cascadia. The spec sheet has the hp rated at 505 I believe. I'm thinking about having the shop turn it DOWN to about 400 or so. It has a dd15 OD with 2.85 rear. I was under the impression changing the hp was as simple as hooking it up to the computer? Anyone pluses or minuses to doing this?

Not sure I would go down to 400. 450 might be fine as you can get it from the factory that way. Why would you want 400? Possible fuel savings? Think 450 and yes the dealer can do it. I have 505 and have no issues.

you will have big headache with dt12 after 400-500k miles. And parts are very expensive for that ####ty european transmission.

You will get the same with I-shift from Volvo. They don't know or don't care to fix them, replacement is around $15 000......
If you want auto, get Eaton Ultrashift + or 3 pedal Autoshift. You can repair them your self.mhyn Thanks this. -
Lower horsepower will get worse fuel milage by the way. Better to leave it at 500+ hp. Especially with that tall of gear.
