Yeah but i really want to see if there is any underlying problem instead of putting a bandage on it. Seems like it could be a host of other possible issues. Hopefully my mechanic can diagnose it and find all the issues and get it all fixed at once.

Do you have a mehanic in the fontana area you can recommend? I am in las vegas and travel to so cal a lot. I hear mechanics/parts are cheaper down there. Preferrably a place that has experience with my issue, if so that would be great. Watching youtube vids etc is just making me more worried that i may need a rebuild, i dont have money for that and to sit for weeks would put me outta business.

Don't get too worried. Listen to what Nasriza said. He is spot on with the oil pump o rings. Known problem with DD engines. Same o rings are used for the oil cooler module. They are going to give out and you will have a oil/coolant mixture mess. Rolling in rod/main bearings is a great preventative measure while the pan is off. Ask to see o rings when out. They will be brittle and break in your hands. Member Mhyn might see this post. He is from that area and an expert on these engines.

Hey guys so i got word back from the shop.
They are saying the oil pump suction manifold needs to be replaced.
$480 and labor $924
Crankcase breather needs replacing
Parts $412 labor $198
Totals out to be 2251.00 after taxes.
They will visually inspect the rods n bearings only.
Any suggestions? -
I'm not really sure but check oil pump orings somebody once told me about it
-
If you can turn a wrench, you can change the crankcase breather yourself and save some money.
Get the part numbers for both parts and try to find it cheaper elsewhere, as all shops mark up the price by at least 30% or more.
I found the oil pump suction manifold for $220 plus shipping online at www.raneystruckparts.comLast edited: Aug 19, 2017

Well bad news, when they dropped the oil pan they saw coolant coming from cylinder 3, they are gonna take the head off to see where its coming from. Could be a head? Liner? Anyone have any experience with this and what happened? This is stressin me out.
