And they don't even consider that not many will know how to raise the idle??????

    Bob.g Thanks this.

It's in the owners manual. So FL thinks about it and openly talks about it. If a company doesn't tell their drivers, well that's on the company. I know I was told when I bought mine.

Another Canadian driver and Bob.g Thank this.

And how often do you buy a used vehicle and it still has the owners manual. After who knows how many people owned or drove it before you?

I've never seen a manual in any of my vehicles UNLESS they were brand new..

    Bob.g Thanks this.

The dd15 had a tech service bulletin issued for the o rings in the oil pick up tubes causing low oil pressure and premature bearing wear! All the used truck dealers here in Tampa are doing the oil pick up o ring repair and bearing inspection before the trucks are put out for sale and I know this because my personal mechanic shop are the guys that do them all.

It cost about 1,800 to do. My dd15 at idle is about 17-18psi with Lucas full synthetic oil and about 55-60 psi at 67 mph @1,400 rpm. My mechanic said I should do mine soon but Ill wait until I do my oil sample and see if I need to do rods and mains while the bottom is apart. I have about 670k on my 09 Cascadia

If your going to do the o rings, do the bearings anyways.

Might as well do em both instead of one and then the other some time down the road. Then you're paying for the job TWICE.

Great point. That's kinda the way I was leaning. I'm a believer in being a little over cautious especially when I can save a good chunk in labor at the same time.

The low oil pressure at idle reminds me of the old 8V71 and 12V71 I drove back in the day. We usually shut them off or raise the idle if you was gonna sit for awhile

I always raise the idle if I'm sitting even for 5-10 minutes. That's how my dad always did it for years so guess that's where I got it from. Not sure if it's good or bad but it's a habit none the less lol.

I kick up the idle on my 3406E until the oil pressure sits around 60 psi., which is usually about 900 or so rpm's, depending on the oil temperature.
