I just bought a Nexiq Pro Link reader with:

    MPSI Kent-Moore Pro-Link
    Heavy Duty Standard Cartridge
Detroit Diesel (DDEC III and IV) Application Card (Part # 805015)
Detroit Diesel (DDEC II) Application Card (Part # 801015)
    Heavy Duty Multiprotocal Cartridge Reader
    6-pin cable
    9-pin cable
    OBDII cable
    DC (car outlet) power source

    This was the auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nexiq-Pro-L...L7InQdmeSwBRDrPUdFob8%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I have an 11.1 Detroit Series 60 in a 91 Ford L9000, this is a DDEC II motor. Will the OBDII cable read it, even though I beleive it's an OBD1 type with just the three pins? I'm guessing commercial trucks may differ than regular vehicles. If it has a DDEC II cartridge and an OBDII cable, I'd like to assume. I just want to be able to plug in when it arrives. I found a cheap adapter:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-12-Pin-O...iagnostic-Tool-Cable-/170798772364#vi-content

Any help appreciated, I'm a newb and finally happy to own a Pro Link. Thanks!! I tried to research by searching for the Nexiq 801015 cartridge for DDEC II, but was unable to find any information on it.

Are you sure your truck isn't a 6 pin connector?

I don't have ABS. I just need to read the DDEC II ECM. The connector is square as it's DDEC II(OBD two style), I will need to go count the pins shortly. DDEC III should start with a 6 pin circular connector. Not mine. Pop's, I'm not sure what you're talking about. The NEXIQ with the soft ware, cables and cartridges is capable of doing that plus some.

Yep, that will work, but you will need the OBDI adapter.

    freightlinerman Thanks this.

really very old trucks got no Deutch 6 connector. There was no standard of connector, like in EU before 2006 and other connectors were used. Anyway They all got J1587/1708 wires on connectors.

I wanna remind you that in early 90-s truck and car makers used any connector they wanted to use. On trucks J1587/1708 was generally used in USA and K-L in Europe. But later all trucks in USA and some trucks in EU got 6 pin connector, later 9 pin. In Europe till 2005 every truck maker used its propriate connector, but now all they use OBD 2 (protocols: 9141/KWP, CAN, J1587/1709, J1939). In the USA 6 pin and 9 pin are used now. But truck makers wanna use 9141 too

I attached a picture of it, it appears to be 6 pin. Is this correct? I ordered the GM OBD 1 to 2 adapter. Not sure if I need it, but just to be safe. This is right about the throttle pedal in my truck. Again, this is a Series 60 and a 9 speed. What is the style of connector for this, as seen pictured above?

I ordered this from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-12-pin-t..._Automotive_Tools&hash=item4aa28d02e9&vxp=mtr

"6 pin" is slang term for the round adaptor. The one in your picture is an old school OBD connector, just a coincidence it has 6 pins aswell. The adaptor you ordered should work just fine.

Twisted pair is J1587/1708, other two terminals are ground and +

So you can get 6 pin connector on JY and easily fit it in your truck. You can use probe cabel too
