People buying trucks most are not savvy. They would choose paint and chrome over rebuilt engine and llower mileage everytime.

Rc, did it quit suddenly or was it sporadic at first? If the needle was going crazy then ask ya gotta do is replace or even try cleaning the sensor at the back if the tranny. There should be two, sometimes the sensors. One is the odometer, one is the tach, and some trucks have a third for cruise.

Thanks but the speed odometer works fine. One day though the mile-odometer just up and quit racking up the mileage. That I can live without. The CAT ID/ECM miles are what I use for miles. Old style gauges.

Any time your truck goes in for service or autobody work it is recorded in a registry. Can't remember what it's called but it's something you type in the VIN to see it's accident history. It also shows all maintenance that was done, the date and the mileage.
