I had TA do a service once, they told me I needed a new primer pump cause the truck wouldn't start, I asked them if they filled the new fuel filter, after they did fill it she fired right up, last time a TA is doing a PM for me.

I can relate, I just had a ta do my service and it took about 10 seconds of cranking for it to start and I think its down on power sometimes. Maybe its just me though, its been awhile since I had a heavy load. i''ll probably change my fuel filter anyways just to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the tip on speedco, maybe ill try them sometime.

Usually do it myself as well. But generally in January with near zero temps there is a local F/liner dealer that has a $199 special. By the time they ring you out is $249. That aside, the first year the tech did a really good job & found a weak belt tensioner that I later changed. The following year the kid was .... well I will not go back, nor will that kid get near my truck again. He whined that I was near the service area, that I was watching etc. & other than putting the grease gun on the zerks, he never pulled the trigger. The latter is the risk anywhere as well as am sure it is a revolving door for employees. Nobody wants to change oil long term, the job sucks. So can imagine Speedco has the same issue hiring good people.

Service quality varies. My last oil change on the road was in the T/A in Bloomsbury N.J. Left my oil filler cap off.
A/C work in Sparks/Reno, the tech had moved down there from Oregon.
Managed to kick my plastic mats out of his way and greased my carpet.

Lake Park, GA. Speedco managed to leave my lugnut covers off.
Bosselmans waited past shift change to evening hours to let me pay my bill at a higher shift rate charge.

Arizona 40 westbound about the 130 to 140 mile marker bent my front axle. I knew it slammed down hard, but.. four steers and alignments later I finally had an old tech that knew what he was doing and told me my front axle was bent. No telling how many trucks and hundreds of thousands of dollars Arizona cost us.

Take it out send it to someone who does it, they use a special machine to clean it. Needless to say I knew they were Yankin my chain cuz they were making things up when I asked why my gauge never showed that it needed to be cleaned.

Well, I can guarantee you the Speedco at Oak Grove pulls the trigger because there was grease all over my truck by the time they were done and I asked the lady how much they go through, she said they change the bucket a few times a week, lol. It was also all over the floors, tools, pretty much the whole shop. I dunno, I would prefer they wiped zerks off after greasing, but at least they got it greased.

I prefer Speedco for the on-site analysis and I figure if they specialize in oil change and lube they probably at least try to do it well or they wouldn't be in business. You get a p.m. at a dealership and you know they are going to put the lowest tech on the totem pole on it. TA I always have to ask them to grease the jacks on my trailer. I guess they don't consider that a part of the deal when you pay for trailer lube ?? makes you wonder what else they don't get.

This is the company that had the $199 special if anyone is in the midwest & interested. http://www.truckcentersinc.com/locations Click on the service tab & then open the pdf under service specials.

I do buy all my filters through them, have not found a online source for Donaldson much (if any)cheaper than them.
