Pre '08 trucks will be non compliant in two months. If you have a 1993 or older truck you are good till Jan 2015 (14 months). There are plenty of old 1980's and 90's trucks on the road in California and they will continue to be for another year but most of us are not interested in 25 year old trucks anyway. If I were looking for an inexpensive truck to run for 3 or 4 years I would wait till next year when all those 1994 to 2007 trucks go on the market.

Your friend should consider a new glider with a pre-egr engine.
He will save a lot of money on maintenance compared to a used truck , so ownership costs on a new glider could be similar to owning a used truck.GITRDUN45 Thanks this. -

He lives in Pa. But I can see the love for jersey. No need to saying else, I'm pretty sure you already know what I have to say to that. But the dealers we went to were in Nc. He's originally from there and I have bought a new truck from them in 2005. I just felt bad b/c I had such a good experience with them and when we made the trip down there it was def a different dealership to say the least. I have been pushing a glider kit for him. But he's falling a lil shy cash wise. But I figure we only have a couple of yrs left with them b4 everyone starts cracking down on that. Thanks for all your input. Back in the 80s I was buying a lot from west Texas Peterbilt. Are they still the same place or have they gone to the dark side as well ?

I will sell him my 2006 Pete 379 with a rebuilt engine and new transmission. There was an out of frame over haul done on the truck that cost an arm and a leg.
See my post here in the classified section. $51,000 and you have a pretty much brand new truck!
