Yep, go out there and play your own game. Trick is to stay out of rat packs and off their wavelength. Sometimes the only thing you can do is pull off and take a break though if you’re stuck in a pack of traffic that is being particularly obnoxious.

Some of those guys will get under your skin on the wrong day no matter how cool of a customer you usually are. Clowns who don’t take their job very seriously. Left foot up on the dash so they can massage their yam bag while going down the road is a good clue.

Driving 1-2 MPH slower than speed limit or the prevailing speed of others will make YOUR situation better. Most traffic drives 5-15 over the speed limit. Most fleet trucks are limited somewhere between 65-75 MPH by the company. So if you drive just slightly less than those other drivers you never have to pass, all merging traffic speeds away from you and you have less stress. Your job is to be 100% safe, not as fast as anyone else. Switch your mindset from "I have to win the race" to "eff 'em, I'll get there when I get there."

If you keep doing what you are doing you will have heart problems, a wreck, or both. Imagine your anger when you wreck and your only job options are for a lot less money in a much worse truck and working worse hours. If you can't change your attitude, change your job. NOBODY needs a wreck. Having expectations about traffic causes some people to be angry because reality didn't match what they expected. Have no expectation.

It helps if you can talk to somebody else who is mad just like you. I got a buddy who wants to walk around and taze everybody at truckstops just for violating common courtesy. He cracks me up. If I'm mad and hate my job, I call him and it helps.. he's worse!

I like the way he thinks. Organizing small teams all across the nation would be an awesome start to something big.

Yep had another today on a two Lane highway very narrow, no shoulder on kind of a remote road. I’m traveling the speed limit. He’s riding my bumper and sure enough. He tries to pass me and I can see the oncoming traffic. And I immediately no there’s no way this guy is going to make it. I had to slow down to 15 mph. Or lives we’re gonna be lost. And Yep as you probably guessed 15 miles up the road when we came to a stop sign guess who was right behind him? He never got but a quarter mile in front of me the whole rest of the trip. Risked his life, my life and the people in the other lane for absolutely no reason.
