i live by the piers in nj.... all i can say : container haulers are a class apart lol most of their trucks are falling apart or being held by bungees. They will cut you off doing 80 on the tpk ( the ones paid by load) or they will hog the traffic doing 55 on the center lane(hourly drivers) ....

I dont get where everyone is always making fun of can haulers. For over 20 years, my cousin has been pulling cans from boston to the port in Jersey. He rarely nets less than $2200 a week, is home everyday, and off weekends.
Been trying to get me over there forever. But I dont want to leave at 1am then drive all night.

Yoyoredrum, stillwurkin and bzinger Thank this.

Because I start at 6, drive from Scranton PA to upstate NY or NJ, sometimes MD, drop loaded trailer, hook empty trailer, get it live loaded and am home between 2 and 5pm. Average 300 miles per day, no more than 2000 per week. Gross is $1000/day to the truck. Fuel is less than $200/day.

I net between $4000 and $6000 per week. Doing less work than your cousin, on the same roads.

That's why we make fun of can haulers.

Man if a guy can live off that and is happy, then all the power to 'em. That's not great coin though. May as well drive for someone else in town for $20 an hour.

Most local companies wouldn’t hire the container guys I’ve met. Thay can be a rough crowd.

Local alignment shop in Saskatoon. A New Canadian running for CNTL brought in a 3-1/2 yr old Cascadia complaining of front tire wear. A tie rod end fell off right on the alignment rack.
Guy never greased the truck since new.

It doesn’t take as much grease as often thought. I grease mine enough but not like some I’ve known. Original front end with 2.2 million miles. I finally redone the Driveline a few yrs back.Trucks and Cars will last a long time if Driven right with patience even if loaded heavy most of the time. I got proof !!!
