Ive been trying to find a decent company that offers regional or dedicated work in Northern CA or west coast areas. I’ve found a few so far, but haven’t heard many good things about them and having a hard time finding something decent. I’ve had my CDL for a year and have about 7mo driving experience (class a) and 6 months (class b). Any suggestions?

Where exactly are you? Maybe get some good leads from drivers in your area.

I’m in the greater Sacramento area. I’ve had offers from some of the major carriers, but nothing impressive so far.

Go out to I-5 or other busy truck route nearby. Park and make notes of names and trailer types. Note all the names you see frequently driving by. And if many are day cabs, note this as well. Then go home and research on the internet. You can determine their home domicile. Thise close by might be given higher priority. This will tell you a lot. It’s not that hard. Don’t let others tell you who you should or should not be looking into.

You’ll see a lot of national mega trucks, obviously. These you can ignore or consider. Your choice. Then once you’ve narrowed down some prospects you can come here and see if you can get any opinions from current or past drivers for these outfits.

Here's one and I think it's a staffing agency. > Apply On Company Site
Sometimes staffing agencies have some good deals and a few hire with less than one year experience, even though they may not advertise that.

Some terminals have been bending the rules and hiring new cdl grads.

Thanks for the input. I never thought about doing this, but I’ll give it a shot.

They have a mill in Lincoln and they also have mills scattered all over northern California and Washington. Most of the mills have trucks assigned to them and that mill will be your home base.
The pay is decent and the benefit package is outstanding.
The lumber trucks travel quite a bit but they're usually back at their respective mills on weekends. Lots of tarping.
The chip trucks are home every night...or day...as the case may be. They run 2 shifts on the chip trucks and you'll very probably start out on night shift.
If you're interested in hauling logs they'll train you but be advised logging is seasonal and until you build up some seniority you'll usually be laid off during the winter.

Legend in Yuba City . They recently got the homegoods account so they have lots of dedicated freight in California/AZ . All brand new trucks too. Normally they bring a loaded or empty trailer from California to Tucson and then pick up a loaded trailer in Tucson and bring it to a store (Marshalls/Homegoods/TJ maxc) in California

If you had at least a year I would say to contact Ruan since they have lots of work in NorCal but they're pretty strict on that year minimum .
