It is EASY to buy a brand new truck as a first time buyer. Things have changed since market demand is moving in the right direction. Freight, especially refrigerated is solid and guys making 7-8K a week is common. Pays for new truck, trailer, and time at beach. Stop scaring guys away in possibly the most easiest time in our recent history to go O/O. Made enough in one week that I could take 2.5 weeks off if I wanted too!

This person was not being rude they were being truthful. I have been an independent contractor driving a lease truck and pulling my own trailer for The last 3 years plus and everything he said is true. You have to pay everything and you have no benefits at all unless you pay for them. Sometimes the truth hurts but it needs to be heard. To the op a lease purchase can be done you just have to find the right company and work your butt off. I have only met a few drivers that have been able to own their truck at the end of their lease. It is true that there are very few people that have been able to make it work. I can tell you one thing I have never seen a story here from anyone that lays out why their lease failed in detail. I'm still waiting for that one. The other thing I don't see much of is people actually sharing their numbers consistently if at all. When I figured this out I decided to share mine so that people can see what it takes to run one of these trucks and a business.

I was hoping to hear about the L Purchase crowd, but all the questions that are asked the more questions the readers have. Pretty rough. I guess you would have to be lucky and find the right company for the arrangement in the first place. Not just signing on with the closest company.

Lease purchase gets a deserved bad rap but halfway decent deals can be found. Having successfully completed a lease purchase myself, I'd say there's a big difference between a decent lease purchase and what often rightfully gets called a fleece deal. Unfortunately the fleece deals are much easier to find. First rule of thumb I'd say is don't get your truck from where you get your freight. The decent deals will most likely be from people who don't do freight at all.

How many times I've heard future lessees tell me, "If I could just get in a truck, I'd be doing good"

Financial decisions made out of desperation fail much more often than succeed.

None of those I mentioned made it, and honestly they never will.

Everytime I have seen a L Purchase Dude, I never met a Lady L Purchasee, yet, well I saw her but she was going inside the Terminal with a big flolder, full of paperwork, dirty truck ( yikes )... Anyways, those guys, they looked like they were going to crap their pants telling me how wonderful it is.

There is a psychological process, I forget what it's called or if it even has a name, where people try to convince others of something as a way of trying to convince themselves.

My lease purchase is paid off, so apparently it was good enough.
