Yeah I spent a week down their already and got all that stuff done I just had to come back home because of my birth certificate but this time around I got my CDL now and I'm ready to hit the road with my trainer after the 4 day orientation. I was just curious about the lunch lady cuz she was so nice and from the looks of it she was ready to pop that baby right out lol
Well still waiting on the conformation number to go pick up the rental car in the morning thank God I don't have to take the bus lol

I'm over here in Waterloo. The instructors at Hawkeye are top notch so far, and, sorry to say but regardless of reason. One roommate beats the hell out of two. Lol. Thank god your just here for orientation

So, a bit of an update since it's been quite a while. It's been one h3ll of a ride, that's for sure.
I finally got out with a trainer who wasn't worth much. I spoke with other people I went through orientation with, and it seemed as though many were having some sort of issue as well. Lack of backing training being the top complaint. I ended up having to go back out on the road with a better trainer.
This company takes no nonsense. The ONLY reason(s) you get kicked out is because of something YOU did. This company is very tolerant when it comes to hiring people, but you must remember that this is a corporate environment, and you play by the rules, or you hit the road. The stories that I hear about people getting sent home for ridiculous reasons needs to be scrutinized a tad more.
I've run a LOT of miles, but have heard of people who don't. Attitude is everything.
This is a very accelerated course. Some people get it, some don't.
This is a starter company, and I have some complaints, but everyone has a complaint about this company, or that one...whatever. I'm in 2012 Freightliner which is in great shape. they are pretty good about doing maintenance, but just don't go to Carlisle to get it done. You will be there for DAYS. I also hooked up with a great co-driver as well, and that either makes it, or breaks it for you. Some people can do team, some can't.
I really don't have any major complaints. I've dealt with a lot of BS from other corporate environments, so I know the deal.
If you have the funds to go to a private school, go ahead and do it if you can. The way the economy is, a lot of people can't, and this is one of the alternatives. Know what you're getting into BEFORE you go. You may have to go through h3ll first, but don't you at the beginning of any new career?
Be safe everyone!Safari Joe Thanks this.
