So, I recently decided to go with Swift and get my CDL through their academy program. What's confusing me a bit is the application process. I've had a phone conversation, and a few email exchanges with the recruiter and he said he can get me into the program early January, since my driving record was fine, and kind of left it at that. I mean, he answered whatever questions I had to my satisfaction but beyond that he was just like "stay in touch along the way." This is like the total opposite of what I experienced with the CR England recruiter who was pushy as hell and called me several times.

Anyway, is this normal? He did mention he was busy with December's students and holiday stuff but I thought there would be more to the process? Should I be worried?

CR England needs to be pushy as hell, where Swift not as much.

Swift isn't that bad anymore. They've changed a lot of things to be a better place to work. CRE, not so much.

Nothing wrong with starting at Swift! Depending on where you are living will be a big factor on how many the training class will be made up of. But right now, the Dec classes would be booked up and running, none starting with Christmas and New Years holidays almost on us. A January class might not start for you until the second week or later in Jan.

Check back with them next week, then between X-mas and New Years, then again in the first week of Jan. Show them you are very interested in getting started and that you are ready!

ask them the date for the class will be starting that will pin them down a little bit and determine if they're still doing background checks or if they're really trying to plug into a seat

There's nothing wrong starting anymore... gotta start somewhere.
There's better options than Swift though.
