By the way. Of those trucks you mentioned you can buy. Do your self a favor. Get the VIN #'s and ask the dealer ship for any Service Bulletins on that vin #. It will tell you of problems factory had that did not fit recalls . Mine had a AC issue that required a different expansion valve for bunk AC. Until I did that check it was costing me thousands a year in AC work. Now very little. Print the bulletin if there is one for the truck you buy.Keep it with the truck to show service managers. They do not look unless told to do so.
Remember ,,,,,that most trucks with this DPF and CARB crap are having lots of problems. Not worth the down time and repairs. Best of luck in what ever decision you make.

    godgunscountry Thanks this.

Thought I would update. I read a lot of threads that just end and I always wonder what happened. Anyway I bought a 2009 volvo 730 with the Cummins. It has 480k miles. Payed 52k. Got it at arrow truck sales. Took the vin and found out where the truck came from. Called that company and they were nice enough to spend 15 min on the phone giving me a complete history. I read about the problems people have and hope this truck treats me good. Thanks for all the advice.

Now go to the Volvo dealer and ask them for any service bulletins on that vin # When certain models have problems but not for re-call it is a service bulletin to dealer . I was having nothing but AC problems. Found the service bulletin on it and it was to replace the bunk expansion valve with different one. simple fix . Until then expensive.

I specifically bought pre-emission and stay out of california myself. Buying a used truck on a budget like that can be tough. Going pre-emission I got a nice truck at a great price that I know I won't have all the problems associated with a truck in the same price range with all the emissions crap. No need to go to california anyway. You might buy one of those and not be allowed in california next year for all you know. Pre-emmision or spend a lot more money and buy a lot newer.
All the manufacturers had a ######## of issues in those first years of emissions. Stay away from them or be prepared for costly repairs. I wouldn't buy an 07-09 anything.
