    Yes: Used welded bar grating.

    Yup. Trimmed down a 4×8 sheet of checkerplate aluminum to 34" wide. Made a bracket for each corner that slides under the frame rail flange to hold it down. (Basically sandwiches the flange between the deck plate and the bracket) It's still sitting behind the shop. It's survived 3 trucks so far.

    I've seen guys use 1/2" plywood strapped to the top of the frame but that seems pretty cheesy on a $180k truck.
