I thought I would give this one more shot..........I haven't been able to get much response/info about Decker Transport (Div of PAM).......What little I have read about this company, it seems to be a good company to drive for, and I'm close to making a decision to go to their C-1 school and begin my career with them.

If anyone knows ANYTHING at all about this company, especially if you drive or have driven for them, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you..........Thank You.

I don't know alot about them, except they are a division of PAM. What school are you going to?

If I decide to go with Decker, I will be going to the C1 school in St Louis....The big negative about their post school training is the $300 a week sarlary.........Most other companies pay at least $400 a week, and even more than that...........Aside from the training pay, I like everything about the company.

The pay seems to be about average.........They allow you to take your truck home.......No NYC...........A small company (backed by a large one: PAM) of about 350 trucks, so I figure the drivers are treated better than those at many large companies........They have automatics in all their trucks, which is good while you're with the company, but could hurt if you leave that company for one that doesn't use automatics......Passengers are allowed............Nothing negative about them on this website, unless I just missed it.

I drive for Decker Transport. Just got out of orientation last week. Out of all the PAM Divisions they are probably one of the best. They should remain one of the better groups in PAM and I'm happy with my dispatcher out of orientation. Though I probably will be with him only a few weeks.

If you have any specific questions I'll see if I can answer them.

I saw your questions in the other thread...

Decker's benefits, hometime, etc. should mirror PAMs. We have the same rules as the rest of PAM etc.

Decker Transport is all automatic shift. The fleet consist of Freightliners, Internationals, and the odd Volvo. If you work for PAM or one of your affiliates you will be assigned a truck that is available. It may say Decker Transport on the side or it may have one of the other divisions names on it. I drive a '05 Freightliner from PAM Dedicated (PDS).

At first I didn't like the idea of that but it hasn't been a major issue. My trainer drove a CEX truck (Choctaw Express).

If you have any questions you can send me a private message.

With Decker you get all the benefits of PAM ($1000 bonus, health benefits, sponsorship) but better home time and I know some of their drivers average more miles than PAM drivers.

Other than that though…the two divisions are very similar. Good companies to get your foot in the door.

    Wedgezilla Thanks this.
