I have asked a legal source to find what states are like Texas which require a worker to change their license to reflect that they live there while working there, if they live in another state. So far not one other state requires workers who live in another state to change their license or address to that state, and it is questionable that there is a legal reason for this to even be brought up other than a residency policy with the company itself - which seems to be really odd with national companies where they have a presence in a lot of states.
IF Texas actually requires it and defines a residence who permanently resides within the state, there is another issue with how anyone is interpreting the law. -
If you are referring to the address that shows on the driver card, I guess it depends on the state.
My id is from GA and they allow us to use ANY address from anywhere in the US even POBox.
I have changed my address on my GA id a number of times and they have ALWAYS been POBoxes. For privacy purposes.
I was considering transferring my driver id and vehicle registration to TN... but when I think about having to take background check again for Hazmat on top of everything else....I just give up.... leave it this way... what a hassle...
