anyone know how to get on a dedicated account for swift out of michigan or close states? Who do I contact? I would like to get on one but not sure how. I dont know if asking my dm would do any good. What type of accounts are there. btw I have been solo for a little over a month and have never been late or accidents. Dont know if that matters. Thanks for help.

You can look at the Swift trucking jobs website. It shows what dedicated accounts they have and how much experience you need. I wouldn't just talk to your DM about dedicated when you find something you want, I'd HOUND your DM about it.

Also, find out who is over that account and get to know them. Networking never hurts even in trucking. Good luck.

I found that most of the "Experience required" such as 6 months etc, is waivable. It depends upon their needs at the time. Heck at 6 months I had a dedicated run. It was great until I changed divisions and my former DM got fired (dirty joke email). At least at Sumner, most "jobs" are old boy network.

Here's my advice: go talk to the fleet manager of the dedicated fleet you want to be on. That way he/she knows that you're really interested and will remember you when he/she has an opening.

Can you explain what a dedicated route is? what are the benefits, more home time? Swifts website says that dedicated runs are available at your 6 month anniversary. Thanks.

I got an a Sears dedicated route after 6 weeks solo, like someone said, it all depends on what their needs are at the time.
Yes, more home time, they try to get your 34 hr resets at the home terminal so you can be home to take them. Some accounts dont run on a Sat. or Sun, all depends on what account your on. Another benefit, especially if your new like myself, is the increased pay, Im making more now than I would be in a year otr with the regular pay increases.....BigT

    BigT-

Thanks for the explanation....I assume a "reset" is offtime? Where abouts in Texas do you run out of? Have you ever been to the Swift terminal in Houston?
