    Hi All, I've got 3.5 years otr experience with no tickets and no accidents. Clean MVR for years. I thought 15 months ago that I would be done trucking, but life doesn't always give you what you want. So currently looking and found:

    MN to ME to MN dedicated run every week, about 3200 miles # .38/mile. Any thoughts on this...looks pretty good to me, home just about every weekend according to the owner of the company. Small company, 100 trucks.

    Only problem might be if the carrier loses his run to one of the larger carriers. Smaller carriers are better to work for in my opinion, but its been my experience that eventually they either get bought out by a big carrier or lose their freight because JB, Swift or Schneider underbid them.

    I worked for a small carrier when JB came in cut the rate. So they got the account. And in 6 months they were calling and asking if we could start hauling their freight again.. It seems that JB was loading on time and at the very last moment they would send a truck out of their yard with the freight headed south to deliver. the only problem the freight never arrived on time.. and we are talking about 6 to 8 loads a day. When they called for us to pick up the freight again they had to inform them that there had been a rate increase. To them it was no problem. they needed the freight delivered on time so we got it back. The big problem with large companies that they don't do service well.

    This happens all the time. You would think that companies would learn, but apparently not in the search for the almight dollar.

    As I'm closer to "signing on" I'm getting more info and maybe one of you know will know the answer to this: seems none of the current drivers are interested in running NE. I don't care going to NYC, but it sounds as if this delivery is in the NE corner of Maine.

    Except for the obvious BS we encounter going thru Chicago, as the run will be southern MN to ME...what's the reasoning? They don't care to run the toll roads?
