So I bought 2 2013 heavy haul 600isx motor 388s. 70k on the clock and one won't regen. Mmm I said, why. After a 650.00 tow bill and 495 to diagnose/replace a bad #3 DEF line I'm back on the road. I call the dealer. Hunters in Smithfield, Pa. Hey I said this and that happened is this warranty stuff? Well umm ahh it is but only the line. Huh? We won't warranty the tow or the labor but we will give you a line. Except we don't have any. How can that be I asked. Well umm only certain trucks are on recall and yours are not and even if they were only the line is warrantied not the tow etc... This is <word removed> I said. Should I be concerned about the other truck? Should I replace the lines now? No they say no need to do that. Guess what happens next...............same thing to the second truck and another grand gone. I call back to Hunters. WTF I ask. You told me this and you told me that. Oh well we can give you a line...except we don't have any. What good is that I ask I already replaced it with an after market line from gates so the truck can go to work. Oh he says save it and when we get them in stock you can exchange it. Thanks sooooo much. Should I replace lines 2 and 3 I asked? No I wouldn't he says. Meanwhile KW is doing a campaign to replace all 3 lines. Both Paccar companies but apparently Peterbilt is content to screw everybody. 320k in two units and I get nothing but bad info and dancing around the issue. I am due to buy 3 trucks and while my 540k won't break Pete the can kiss my rear end before i'll buy another Peterbilt. I own many trucks all Petes, till now. Think twice my friends. We deal with enough lowlifes in this business the dealer shouldn't be another one. If any one else has had the same experience please get back to me I think it's time to ratchet up the pressure. there are laws on this type of crap I'm working on finding out the details...................moe

i am no owner but i cant agree with u more that is utter bs i dont believe it was paccar/peterbilt that screwed u over though i believe it was just the dealer a good one would of stood behind theyre product that they sell and after they gave u the bad info should of ate the tow bill atleast on the second one just to say 'hey sorry about ur luck let's try and make this right ur a good customer and want to keep u coming back.
i say just find another dealer -
If you don't do Cali screw the new trucks....... And do gliders. Lets face the fact that it's been almost 6 years and the new emissions trucks are still full of nagging problems.
And the dealers are losing money on all the warrantee work. The manufacturers don't pay anywhere near what it costs to deal with these new trucks.
So everyone gets the shaft, except the multi- national corp. Nice.........gokiddogo Thanks this. -
send it up to the corporate HQ and see if it helps.
can't hurt.aiwiron Thanks this. -
I'd get in touch with someone @ Paccar. They really don't like to lose customers. -
Call fritzgerard , you want on of their western stars ! Get the coated manifold and upgraded turbo. Then call Pittsburg power ( or tuner of choice) . Get you close to 800 HP and zero headaches! Good luck man!(about 130k loaded out AND no FET)

Here's a thing about warranty work just to clear it up.
Manufacturers put out recalls not dealers. Dealer only does the recall work and gets paid by the manufacture for the job. That's why dealer listens to what manufacture has to say on what batch is recalled.
Dealers only warranty work "labor".
Every new vehicles a dealer displays or holds on their lot gets paid a x amount of money from manufacture for that vehicle. Thats why you never see a new truck dealer with only one truck on their lot, they try to display and hold a lot. Theirs a manufactures list price the dealer gets from them then dealer puts their price on it. Why does the same truck spec same way cost more or less and different dealers.
To the OP if Peterbilt don't wanna fix it go to Kenworth dealer. This issue is not a Peter or Ken problem it's a cummins problem so have a cummins dealer fix it which in turn is a kenworth or peterbilt dealer. Find out from cummins what batch was recalled, they have tags on all parts installed and that's why they know what batch of parts went on what trucks or what vin trucks they ended up on.
With my cat if I have a problem and Pete or Ken said no or they were full then I went to cat. Some cat dealers don't work with on highway equipment others worked with both.
Hope this helps and get your expenses reimburse by a cummins dealer. -
Gas, this recall is Pete's. One of my Co-workers had his replaced at Cummins and had to pay. He only found out about the recall when the Pete dealer called and said "we have your lines in." A dealer he's never been to, but who Cummins called apparently when looking for parts, as they are tagged to his vin.
Gasienica Thanks this. -
It is Petes recall. the dealer is not to blame for the recall BS. they are responsible for bad info. either way if pete can't make it right I have purchased my last one

to the OP
there are a few things i don't understand.
1°when i read your post, the way you have written it,you give the impression that because off a bad DEF line the truck will not regen, correct?
But i don't understand ,a regen doesn't need DEF.
A regen is fuel being burned in the DPF.
2°if any part off the emission system goes down,i was under the impression that the truck will derate(meaning a loss off power) but that the truck itself will allways(without a load offcourse) be able to limp to a repairshop.
So why the towtruck?
I'm am just trying to clear up a few questions i have so i might learn from what happend to you.
