    Not all trucks do that. I have a 2012 Mack daycab that will not idle beyond 5 minutes, even with the cruise set. What I have found though, is that this particular truck has the switch for a PTO even though there isn't a pump. Flipping the switch fools the computer into thinking you are running the non-existent pump and will idle as long as needed.

    My truck has a PTO setting through the cruise but it still engages the 5 min timer. The only way to.override it is to sit and wait for the warning, then press the accelerator, thereby cancelling it. I'm guessing its the default setting on a Cummins. Since Mack and Volvo.engines are somewhat related, it could be the Mack setting is the same as the dfault setting on a Volvo., which seems to be PTO on, shutdown timer off.
