A lot of folks possess the experience and ability to be a good trainer. Out of the few of those that are willing to train even fewer apply themselves, and spend a lot of time in the jump seat rather than the bunk while not sleeping. Out of those few even less possess the patients and interpersonal communication skills necessary to constantly correct and coach a stranger without being rude. I'd take one with those two skills who applied themselves and 6 months experience any day over a trainer/instructor with 20yrs/exp that lacked them or a trainer that watched tv when they should be in the seat. My time was valuable just like theirs and though I couldn't have asked for a better psd instructor I wish I would have gotten more value for my time out of my trainer the guy was always in the bunk. I learned so little in training what a wast of time that was.

I never got trained through a company, I took my class 1 training through a well established community college. The instructor they put me with was great. He had around 25 years experience doing everything from long haul to super b's to off highway logging. If you screwed up he would explain why it was a screw up and what some possible consequences could arise from it. Then he would explain how to avoid it in the future. The biggest thing that I believe makes a good instructor is the ability to adapt his/her teaching methods to the particular student they are mentoring so they are able to learn more effectively.

I'm in needed of an instructor.

We get to go to the millennium building tomorrow at 11:00.

I'm ready to be instructed. I've started studying my pretrip weeks ago. I don't have it memorized but I'm familiar. I just need some pad time to back, and road driving. The rest, I know enough to know I don't know what I don't know. That's where I need an experienced instructor.

    I aiming to trifecta.

The best division.........reefer, of course! LOL ;)

Your PSD & TNT may quite possibly be done in reefer, as there are WAY more instructors & trainers in this largest division. Flatbed division much smaller, so comparatively not as many there. Tanker division even smaller. Rare bird there.

May get lucky and hook up with a skateboard instructor &/or trainer. If not, you just have to due securement training afterwards.
