Drivers license, registration, BOL and that is about all you need. No weapons, drugs or alcohol.

No B.S. or special handshakes needed.

    NWMAXI and ewill71 Thank this.

If you haven't had your tractor since new, or for a long time, it never hurts to really take a good look around the frame, under the cab, etc.
I worked for one company that did a lot of military stuff. A friend was going into a Navy Base in WA state, and they decided to do a thorough search of the truck. Some previous 'professional' driver of the tractor my friend was driving, had taped a small bag of marijuana under the cab or somewhere on the frame.
Luckily the bag was obviously old, and weathered, but they still kept my friend in a holding cell for several hours, while they contacted the company, and concluded the grass had probably been put there before he was assigned the truck.

as, aiwiron said, its no big deal, you need no more than you would for a stop by the police. some require twic, some dont. every bases protocol is determined by the commanding officer. that is a frustration really, with them all being different. but it is nothing out of the ordinary.

    aiwiron Thanks this.

Haven't seen it mentioned and you probably wouldn't, but...

    DON"T SPEED!!!!

Not one MPH over posted. Make sure you are down to speed before passing the sign, and don't start accelerating before you pass the sign.

    ewill71 Thanks this.

To that effect, speeding tickets on a military base or post, go to Federal Court, not the local county or state courts. A military base or post, is Federal property and fall under Federal jurisdiction.
    How do I know this?

Id say all above posted is good plus slide your tandems all the way up if your in a van trailer. I delivered to one and the place wasnt set up for nothing but cars and i had them up pretty far but not all the way up and ran over some curbs. I checked in with license, registration and insurance of the truck. Got a escort to my area and vague directions back out. The place was huge I almost got lost on the way out.

Each base I go on has different rules.

Call up your POC and ask them what gate you have use. The base I was on Monday we entered thru the back gate because trucks can not get through the barricades at the front gate. I have always presented my CDL and manifest. Then I let them dictate how they want to proceed. Some bases scan the CDL and send you on your way others need an appointment and some randomly search the truck.

When Lowry AFB was open in Denver (back, waaay back when I was in) we used to get the biggest kick watching cabbies arguing with the Security Police over a 1 or 2mph over the limit speeding ticket. They'd tear those tickets up. When you're a no-show to a Federal Court, the judges do send the federal marshals after you - that's no BS. Those judges really don't appreciate having their time wasted over a speeding ticket on a federal installation.

The federal Marshals again, they do not send Marshals after you, they just put you on the do not enter list for all military installations and send the ticket to your state where the D/L is from.
