512 is not lot of ram. Standard is pretty well 2 gig on most new laptops now. 30 gig hard drive ain't alot either

    I assume it is a RE-CON unit.
CNET gave it an excellent rating....IN 2002!
For a few dollars MORE for what you would pay for that DINOSAUR, you can get a NEW lap top from DELL.
Personally, I give DELL computers good to excellent ratings. I currently have 5 Dells.....3 laptops and two desktops; going back to my first laptop 8 years ago.
What brings me back is not only their well built units, but their customer service which is second-to-none.....in my opinion.

Work replaced some of there laptops and desktops.
The only thing they have done to them is stripp the operating system out of them.
They are selling them for $35.

$35 isn't a bad price, even when you add the cost of the OS.
Call DELL and see if you can't get the specific OS CD for that computer, they might even GIVE it to you.
That will get you all the drivers specific to that lap top.
If you end up buying one elsewhere, you can find drivers for just about anything at GOOGLE Driver's Guide

I already have XP, so OP system is no problem.
All I would need is any of the other drivers.

For that price its a good deal. Just up grade the memory to 1GB, get the memory from ebay cheaper than dell. You should be able to load XP on it no problem and then go to dell's site and get all the drivers.

While I use EBay to get many replacement parts for my laptops, I don't use them to get any electronic modules; memory, HD, motherboards, video cards etc. I DO get my memory and HDs online. I paid $27 for 1G ram ($52 for two modules) for my Dell laptop, and just paid $46 for (2) 512MB modules for the DELL PC I am working on, plus $48 for a 120G HD.
He could get the drivers off the DELL web site. I looked, there are 71 drivers total. He would have to "know" exactly what hardware he has on the laptop to get the correct drivers.

I'll take 4. Seriously, if you can get more than one, I'd be happy to compensate you for your troubles. They're not top of the line, but Dells hold up to the work environment and I wouldn't be worried about breaking it.
