I was shot down at Prime today. The recruter did not know why. I've never been in any serious trouble. I did do a few weekends in jail 8 years ago but that's about it. No Felonies. Worked 20 years for the same company as an independant contracter in the flooring installations buisness. An 18 year old DUI and one speeding ticket 30 years ago. Is this what I should expect from all the componies that will hire and train new drivers or are they all differant?

There are alot better companies than prime to drive for.
hend1048 Thanks this. -
The only real way to find out is to keep trying. If somebody on here says, "you haven't got a chance in hell," and you quit trying because of that, then guess what? You haven't got a chance in hell.
So don't let yourself be trapped by what others tell you. What you need is to have a lot of faith in yourself, and get out there and sell yourself to trucking companies. Make PERSONAL contact with every trucking company that is within a comfortable area for you. I mean personal as at their door, in person, not via telephone or email.
Look at finding a job as being a full time job. You are now a salesman, and the product you are selling is yourself. You might have a bit of an uphill battle, but there are few among us who haven't screwed up at some time or another in our lives.
I've been following your other thread.
Good luck!hend1048 Thanks this. -
Find a job where they do not enter Canada,
and most of your problem will be solved !!!!!! -
Thanks for the encouragment. I just applied to Swift and I am assuming that will be a no as well as they go to Canada and Mexico. We sure would like to get into this field of work but will have to find a company that will train us. I've worked at 4 places in the last 36 years and have never been turned down for work or fired before. The recruter at Prime pulled up stuff from 20 years ago and was reading it to me on the phone. I'd forgotten bout most of that old stuff. Can't believe they would go back that far. Well, onward and upward. This can't be impossable to do.

A person may not apply for criminal rehabilitation for 5 years following the original conviction (note the difference with deemed rehabilitation where the period begins with the completion of the sentence). After this five-year waiting period (assuming the person has not been convicted of another offence) Americans (for example) can apply for criminal rehabilitation by submitting the following:
- An application form IMM 1444E
- A passport size photograph
- A copy of your passport data pages
- An FBI police certificate
- A state police certificate
- Copies of court documents indicating the charge, section of law violated, the verdict, and sentencing
- Proof of completed sentences, paid fines, court costs, ordered treatments, etc.
- Copies of the text of the law describing the offence.
- Detailed explanation of the circumstances surrounding the offence
- Three letters of reference from responsible citizens.
- A non-refundable processing fee of $180 USD
- This applies to not only a DUI, but ANY criminal offence such as, shoplifting, asault, burglery, theft of any kind, involintary manslaughter and the list goes on.

One of the worst feelings ive ever had was being left in a little white room with green day's "American Idiot" playing, while "CBSA" agents hid from me going through my stuff, running my background, watching my porno.... and the song was just such a bad choice for the situation.....of course, that song wasnt the only song that played during the *four hours* i was detained...
By the way, funny thing, but even with what you said, I do not admit to my criminal history to the canadians and it has never been an issue. I was arrested for assault/battery but the charges were dropped on the grounds of nolle prosequi. Every once in a while they ask me if i've ever been arrested, i just say...No! I dunno if they can see that ####, but i am not going to admit to it.
